Citrique Belge in Tienen is one of the largest citric acid producers in the world. As a part of their Triple P programme, Citrique Belge also devotes extra attention to the relationship with the environment. When a small number of people living in the vicinity pointed out an annoying noise that was sometimes produced by a number of cooling towers, Citrique Belge decided to investigate how this situation could be rectified.

Citrique switches from groundwater to surface water with the help of PCA. Thanks to our tailor-made water treatment plant, they not only benefit financially, but also ecologically.

During the construction of a new production line in 2012, Almeco was closely involved with the development of process cooling. In 2013 we supplied an open cooling tower for cooling 120 m³/hour from 47.9°C to 28.3°C at a wet bulb temperature of 20 °C (discharged cooling capacity 2,734 kW).

Air purification plant

Our customer is distributor of lubricants, chemical fuels and industrial gases. PCA has built an air purification system to reduce the emission of irritating fumes and eliminate the risk of explosion.

An oil refinery from the Port of Antwerp asked us if it would be possible to adapt their counterflow cooling tower with axial suction fans so it could still cool the same water flow rate, but to a lower cold water temperature. The cooling tower consists of six cells.

A well-known customer contacted PCA for the construction and assembly of a new water treatment installation. Smart systems wanted to double its production and counted on us to deliver an installation capable of purifying 4 m3/h of waste water.

PCA has provided a new and comprehensive waste water treatment for the AluK plant located in Chepstow (Wales). The new water treatment plant was necessary because of the addition of a lacquering line with chemical pre-treatment within the company. The result is a fully automated and sustainable waste water treatment plant which is capable of purifying 9m3/h of waste water

drying glass jars

This drying solution is designed to dry glass jars with different sizes and lids. The jars must be dried to allow labeling after they exit the scrubber and are then immediately packed in cardboard boxes.

Horizontal gas scrubber

PCA was contacted because the company wanted to reduce the environmental impact of the emission of the noxious fumes. Our engineering department therefore designed a horizontal packed gas scrubber with NaOH dosage to neutralize the acid vapors.

Our customer installed a new line for the surface treatment of aluminum profiles. This line consists of several baths in which the pieces are successively submerged. PCA was contacted to provide a solution to discharge the annoying rising fumes.
